The trio Saracotia was formed in 2008 by musicians Rafael Marques (10-string mandolin), Rodrigo Samico (7-string guitar), and Márcio Silva (drums) after they first came together to accompany Italian singer Cristina Benvenutti.
Born in Recife (Pernambuco, Northeast Brazil), the musicians dra from both local and international influences, resulting in an inventive and uniquely Brazilian sound.
Throughout its journey, the trio has explored the versatility of music from Pernambuco and Brazil, incorporating Frevo, Maracatu, Forró, Choro, Samba, and other popular styles. Their approach expands cultural and geographical boundaries, reinterpreting traditions through contemporary aesthetics.
The combination of the 7-string guitar,10-string mandolin, and drums creates a distinctive contrapuntal fluidity. Their energy and musical lightness are evident, engaging audiences through their performances and storytelling.
