Sybil Thomas is an American R&B and soul singer, known for her rich, gospel-tinged voice and work in the late disco and post-disco era. She is the daughter of legendary Stax Records singer and DJ Rufus Thomas, placing her in a prominent Memphis soul lineage.
Early in her career, Thomas sang in groups and studio sessions, and she was a member of the New York studio project Raw Silk before stepping forward as a solo artist. She gained wider recognition with the club track “Rescue Me” on West End Records, which became a favorite in dance and soul circles.
Over the years she has recorded and performed in the U.S. and internationally, blending classic soul, R&B, and jazz influences in her live sets. She continues to perform and release music into the 2020s, maintaining a loyal following among soul and rare-groove listeners.
