Forged in the Balkans, Srdjan Ivanovic's melodies and rhythms boldly and spiritedly demonstrate his commitment to exploratory, pioneering and innovative jazz.
Originally from Sarajevo, the crossroad of east and west, Srdjan Ivanovic is a drummer from the most unlikely of backgrounds. Having fled the war in Bosnia as a child, Srdjan landed in Greece, and was immersed in an eclectic mix of music, from Byzantine chant and Greek folk to Italian pop and more. Adding the discovery of jazz, he developed his own musical voice, both as drummer and composer. All About Jazz, JazzTimes and many more have hailed his work as “boundary defying”, “organic”, “original” and “poetic.”
