Salon 10 proudly presents the fourth edition of Tokyo x HK Jazz conversations. This time with two young rising stars of jazz scene from Tokyo: Drummer and composer Kaito Nakamura and bassist Riku Takahashi. From the HK side, we would have two of Hong Kong’s best musicians, Chris Carpio on keys and Bernard Carpio on Sax. Don’t miss this one!
Kaito Nakamura
Kaito Nakamura is versatile and dynamic musician who has made innovative contributions to contemporary music scenes. With a background in classical and jazz, he brings an unique approach to rhythm and melody through his powerful yet delicate expression.
Born in NYC, raised in Japan, Kaito was a child prodigy who began playing drums at 6. He’s since received a full Berklee scholarship, played with legends like Sadao Watanabe (Escola Jafro), and won awards from Norio Maeda. Kaito has released two acclaimed albums Blaque Dawn (2022) & Invisible Diary (2025). His original compositions are highly regarded for their technical precision, musical depth, and distinctive originality.
Riku Takahashi
Tokyo-based bassist known for his technical mastery and artistic passion. He began playing contrabass and electric bass in his junior high school wind orchestra. His talent earned him a scholarship to attend the Berklee College of Music Summer Program in Boston in 2014, where he subsequently received a full scholarship through audition. His career highlights so far include performances at the Korea International Music Festival (2017), a special invitation from the President of the Philippines to perform at Malacañang Palace (2023), and contribution to the soundtrack for "Between the White Keys and the Black Keys" (2023).
