Ester Wiesnerova & Julian Moreen are a vocal-piano duo from Slovakia and Germany. They evolved from deep exploration of jazz standards during their formative years at Berklee College of Music into a fruitful songwriting partnership drawing from American folk and jazz traditions—with a distinct European touch.
Together, they’ve performed over 50 concerts across Europe and the U.S., including national radio and TV appearances. Ester, now based in New York, was hailed by Jazzwise Magazine as “an exciting new voice in European jazz with rare imagination and formidable arranging skills” and featured in Forbes Slovakia’s “30 Under 30.” Julian’s reputation as a unique artist in jazz and pop has taken him to major festivals such as Germany’s JazzOpen and Taiwan’s Taichung Jazz Festival, sharing stages with artists including Jorja Smith, Suzanne Vega, Celeste, and Anna Maria Jopek.
Their upcoming album, Ephemeral Cities, features collaboratively written songs, each named for and inspired by a city’s sounds and stories. Together, they explore the full expressive potential of their instruments through deep interaction, improvisation, and virtuosity.
