Salon 10 proudly presents the Greg Foat Ensemble featuring local jazz virtuosos: Jona Cho on Sax, Tsang Tak Hong on Bass and Padget Nanton on Drums.
Greg Foat is a London-based keyboardist, composer, bandleader and DJ whose richly cinematic music moves between British jazz, library recordings, psychedelic folk, ambient soundscapes and classic European film scores.
Born in Ventnor on the Isle of Wight, Foat learned piano by ear and developed his singular voice through self-taught improvisation. Influenced by Gordon Beck, Stan Tracey, Keith Tippett, Ennio Morricone, Michel Legrand and Vangelis, he creates expansive, melodic work that feels both timeless and otherworldly.
He leads the Greg Foat Group, co-leads Hampshire & Foat with Warren Hampshire (of the Bees) and many other creative collaborations. Key recordings include The Dancers at the Edge of Time (2015), Galaxies Like Grains of Sand (2017), Saint Lawrence (2019), Symphonie Pacifique (2020), Psychosynthesis (2022), Blue Lotus (2022), Interstellar Fantasy (2023) and The Glass Frog (2024)...and many more. His work often uses unusual instruments (harpsichord, tubular bells, large vocal choirs) and analog recording techniques.
